Paul describes a mystery once hidden but now made manifest to the saints: the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles.
CHRIST ABOVE ALL.
CHRIST IN YOU.
01 / The central revelation
THE MYSTERY REVEALED · COL 1:26–27Christ is before all things
Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things consist (1:15–17).
From alienated to reconciled
Peace is made through the blood of His cross (1:20). Those once alienated and enemies in mind by wicked works are now reconciled through His death (1:21–22), with the call to continue grounded and settled in the faith (1:23).
02 / The spiritual journey
FROM PRAYER TO MATURITYWisdom, spiritual understanding, worthy walk.
Translated into the kingdom of His dear Son; redemption.
Peace through the cross; continue in faith.
Walk in Him, established and abounding in thanksgiving.
Fullness dwells in Christ; believers are complete in Him.
03 / The battle for understanding
COLOSSIANS 2:4, 8, 16–23Do not be moved from Christ
- Beware enticing words (2:4).
- Beware philosophy and vain deceit according to human tradition, not Christ (2:8).
- Let no man judge you in meat, drink, holyday, new moon, or sabbath days (2:16–17).
- Do not let anyone beguile you through false humility and worshipping of angels (2:18).
- Do not mistake man-made ordinances and self-imposed severity for true spiritual growth (2:20–23).
Hold fast to the Head
NOT THE FOUNDATION
Human tradition, persuasive words, ritual judgments, and outward displays of humility.
THE FOUNDATION
Christ, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (2:3); the Head from whom the body grows (2:19).
04 / Four anchors for the heart
VERSE-BASED REFLECTION05 / Live the vision
REFLECTION PROMPTS · APPLICATION, NOT DIRECT QUOTATIONMeasure the voices shaping your understanding against Christ (2:3, 8).
Examine whether faith and thanksgiving mark your daily walk (2:6–7).
Bring priorities back under the preeminence of Christ (1:18; 2:19).
