Salvation is not earned by works (2:9). Those saved are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works (2:10).

Fellowheirs in one body
The mystery revealed by the Spirit is that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, of the same body, and partakers of God's promise in Christ by the gospel (3:3–6). Paul describes his ministry of making this fellowship known (3:7–9).
